Terms
Last updated 16 October 2026.
The short version. Mantel is new and still being tested. Use it, enjoy it, only upload what's yours to upload, and keep another copy of photos you can't afford to lose.
Your account
You need to be at least 16 to make an account. Keep your password and devices safe; anything done while signed in to your account counts as done by you.
Your photos stay yours
You keep every right to what you upload. You let us store it, make thumbnails and viewable copies, and analyse it (descriptions, places and faces, as set out in the Privacy policy), only so Mantel can work for you and for the people you share a library with.
What you can't upload
- anything you don't have the right to share;
- anything illegal, including any sexual content involving minors;
- photos of people taken or shared to harass, threaten or exploit them;
- malware, or anything meant to break, overload or get around how Mantel works.
We may remove content or close accounts that break these rules.
Shared libraries
When you invite someone into a library, they can see, download and add to everything in it. Invite only people you trust. The library's owner can remove people; people you remove keep any copies they already downloaded.
While we're testing
Mantel is free for now. Features may change, and there may be bugs or downtime. We work hard not to lose anything, but Mantel is provided "as is", without guarantees, so please don't make it the only place your most precious photos live. If we ever introduce paid plans or limits, we'll tell you first, and you'll always be able to download your originals.
Leaving
You can download your originals and delete your account at any time. We may end the service with reasonable notice, and if we do, we'll give you time to download everything.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect losses, lost data or lost profits from using Mantel. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded, including New Zealand's Consumer Guarantees Act where it applies.
